I put the duck-billed platypus in my Etsy store and got rave reviews in the Etsy chatrooms. I laughed my head off when someone called it a Pink-a-pus. That just sounds naughty, doesn't it? I was also surprised that people knew what it was. I expected them to say 'what the heck is that thing'?
In even better news, someone on Etsy bought my folk art painting Chicken Sammiches. So hopefully it will be making a lot more people laugh when it gets to it's new home in TX.
My current amigurumi project is designing a duck billed platypus for the Etsy zoo game I started on Flickr. I'm alll done except for his nostrils. I let the glue on the eyes dry overnight.
Yesterday we went to a hardwood lumber yard and I picked up some Claro Walnut to make lucets out of. It's a book matched burl, which is kind of a shame to waste on something I'm not matching, but the swirls will be beautiful once they are polished.
For those who chat on Etsy, I created an unofficial game called the Etsy Zoo. Each week we have a different animal theme. You make something to sell on Etsy, then post it to Etsy and the animal zoo on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/groups/etsyzoo/
The first person to post the new animal gets to choose next week's animal. So far we've done pigs and flamingoes. This week we are on spiders.
The goal is to have people try something new and outside of their comfort zone.
