I went a bit crazy when I got into gourd art and I even made a website for it here: http://gourdmania.com/
But when I checked my site today the counter said 4. I can't believe only 4 people have visited my site. Then again, I took my site offline when I was having computer access issues, so maybe when I tweaked it today it reset my counter to zero. I need to make some more gourds with a holiday theme to use as gifts in December. And I still dream of making a gourd banjo someday.
Yesterday I posted five new paintings to my Etsy shop. I think that's a record for me to list so many items in one day. After awhile my mind turns to mush and I can't remember if I've already typed that sentence in this listing or not. I also found that if I relist an expired item, it doesn't automatically go back to the right section of my shop. I have to resort it.
Still, I'm having fun on Etsy.
It looks like we are in for another humid and sticky day in S. Calif. I don't mind staying indoors and working on projects for Etsy. I have about five projects that are almost done.
I was savnig for a button making machine and then my truck insurance payment came due, so after I pay that, I'll have to start saving all over again.
I've been busy making things for my Pigglewiggins shop lately. I have a whole bunch of stuff that is almost done that I want to add to my online store. Some of them are puppets, some are watercolor paintings. And I have a slew of gourds that need to be finished and put up for sale. I've been a slacker.
I'm always trying to improve my drawing skills. They get rusty so fast. It's so tempting to just stick to knitting or crochet, and leave the harder stuff for others, but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.
I also need to start going through all my journals and see if I can find the Pigglewiggins book I was writing. I remember it was a female character. That's about it.
I run into people that say they have 1000's of people subscribed to their blog. How do they do it? I'm lucky if I can get 2 people to favorite me. Much less subscribe to an RSS feed or something. Usually someone only reads my blogs if I meet them in a chatroom and say 'here's my blog'. Even then they usually just bookmark it till later, which means they probably never go back and read it. I mean, who has time really. Most of the people I know barely have time to remember to eat between work, school and home.
One of my favorite local artists is in an small business art competition and she asked me to get the word out for people to vote for her.
You can vote once a day. It's a major Yahoo sponsored competition.
Here is where you go to vote for Melissa http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/ultimateconnection/index.php?finalist=3
Thanks everyone!
I wrote this for Gather.com, but as they are down for maintenance, I'm parking it here instead.
I wanted to talk about some random things in my life.
Last night I went to the juggling meeting at the Buena Park mall. I finally remembered to take my new camcorder with me. Imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and they weren't there. So I went home and checked their Yahoo group. Sure enough they'd been bumped for a new super Chucky Cheese the mall is going to build. I don't see why they couldn't have let the meetings go on until the area was actually under construction. So now the Orange Jugglers need a new low cost high ceilinged meeting place in Orange County CA.
If money rained on me I'd build a dance and theater school and at least one room would have high ceilings for juggling. And some of the classes would give out a lot of scholarships to low income families with kids that have always wanted to dance but never had the chance.
Another thing I wanted to discuss is that like many people I never feel quite good enough. So recent comments on Gather that said my art was crap really cut me to the bone. How would you like to do something for 40 years and then be told your art is not of merit by someone new on Gather who doesn't even have a profile and claims to be an expert 'art teacher and mentor'. That one is going to hurt for a long time. One expects a snarky comment or two on a public forum but sheesh. Go kick someone else.
On a bright note, I've almost reached 1000 points on Gather now and I've met a wonderful community of bright, loving and supportive people. I hope when I make comments I can always remember to be compassionate. I don't want to hear someone jumped off a bridge because of some kneejerk remark I made on a blog or forum. Savvy?
I'm going to go paint. I've been staring at the Internet too long today already.I'm not sure if I'll do a folk art painting along these lines: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=358722 or what exactly, but I'm itching to get painting.
I made a photo gallery of some of my balloon creations and parked it over here: http://hubpages.com/_l6f64eotqm13/hub/Balloon_Twisting If you love balloon animals go take a looksie.
Also, if you need a balloon artist in Orange County CA please let me know.
I'm putting together a new arts and crafts forum over on EZBoards. http://p071.ezboard.com/bmerrycraftsters
I'm making all kinds of topic threads like knitting, crochet, painting, sewing, gourd art, etc. Right now I'm over there talking to myself. If you already have a YUKU or EZBOARD account, or want to get a free one, come join my new craft forums.
