Maybe a new puppet? A gourd doll? Something with a dachsund theme? I haven't decided. I just got three boxes out of storage. One labeled crafts, one labeled costumes and one labeled yarn. They are covered in dust and cobwebs. So it will be like a treasure hunt. Some of my braided ribbon fell out as we were shifting them. I think it will be fine with a dusting and/or a washing. I also found a crewel embroidery project that's about 3/4 finished that I started when my kids were little. Now they are married, so that's how long that's been in storage or moved from house to house.
I don't want to make anything stressful...just something quick and easy and fun.
I've been busy making things for my Pigglewiggins shop lately. I have a whole bunch of stuff that is almost done that I want to add to my online store. Some of them are puppets, some are watercolor paintings. And I have a slew of gourds that need to be finished and put up for sale. I've been a slacker.
I'm always trying to improve my drawing skills. They get rusty so fast. It's so tempting to just stick to knitting or crochet, and leave the harder stuff for others, but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.
I also need to start going through all my journals and see if I can find the Pigglewiggins book I was writing. I remember it was a female character. That's about it.
I run into people that say they have 1000's of people subscribed to their blog. How do they do it? I'm lucky if I can get 2 people to favorite me. Much less subscribe to an RSS feed or something. Usually someone only reads my blogs if I meet them in a chatroom and say 'here's my blog'. Even then they usually just bookmark it till later, which means they probably never go back and read it. I mean, who has time really. Most of the people I know barely have time to remember to eat between work, school and home.
I set out determined to cut some wood on the scroll saw. Last time my boyfriend used it, he broke the blade.
Today I'm taking the Amtrak back to Anaheim. I got a lot done in Atascadero, but all good things must come to an end. I bought lots of new fabric and knitting supplies to cart home. So when I get back to the studio I'll have new things to put up on Etsy. http://www.pigglewiggins.etsy.com.
In the time I was here (less than a week), I finished a pillbox hat, started knitting an elf hat that I'm halfway done with, started knitting a neck scarf in magenta yarn, made a hand-painted wooden sewing kit and face painted for 4 hours at a company picnic.
I also managed to see Evan Almighty, Room 1048, and Nancy Drew. I got a lot of writing done in my journal too. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you get away from the TV and the Internet.
I'll be getting on the bus/train to Anaheim at 1:30 PM and I'll be in Anaheim about 9 PM. That's four hours from now.
Another great craft blog on VOX elellanyar.vox.com/explore/friends/tags/crochet/
I'm in the middle of making apple head dolls. The heads are carved and drying out at the moment. I wrote a tutorial and put it here: http://hubpages.com/_l6f64eotqm13/hub/Make_An_Apple_Head_Doll_Part_1 and here: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976968510
It's the same tutorial so pick gather or hubpages to view it on, whichever you prefer. This is part 1 of a three part series that I'm writing as I go along.
My boyfriend and I are looking to buy or make an Inkle Loom. But he is left handed and I am right handed. Does it matter? Do we need two different looms?
I know that sounds silly, but some of the blogs are starting to look like ads. Yes, I want to know what crafts you are making. But I also want to know about your family and music, and world culture and what kind of dance you like to do.
I have a store on Etsy too, but hopefully I have the good sense to never make a post saying "Here's my shop...go click buy NOW. I'm guessing you are like me and know when you like something and when you can afford to buy it. You don't need me up in your face every second saying "GRAB YOUR CHECKBOOK and buy now." How rude is that?
We are so lucky on VOX that they let us list our commercial ventures as long as we don't go overboard, so use some good sense. Please don't be one of those people that only makes friends so you can sell someone something down the road.
